Pure Joy Wellness Approved - Bala Bangles

Happy Monday everyone! It’s time for another Pure Joy Wellness Approved product—and this one’s for all the #PJWWalkingWarriors who are looking to step up their game this time around! (The 2nd Walking Challenge is May 1, have you joined our Private Facebook Group yet?!)

This month’s PJW Approved product is none other than the stylish resistance accessory, Bala Bangles!

Bala Bangles

In the last decade, the rise of athleisure has mixed fashion and fitness in a way that changed the wellness industry forever. But the focus has mostly been on clothes, not accessories. Bala Bangles—stylish one or two pound weights that can be strapped to your wrists or ankles—are here to change that.

Why I Love This Product

Bala Bangles are comfortable and cute.

Gone are the days of clunky, oversized ankle weights! These wearable weights are more or less colorful, functional bracelets. Walk into any New York boutique pilates studios these days and you’ll see them! They’re available in a variety of fun colors, such as blush, matcha, and jet black, and each pair comes in a carrying case that you can easily throw in your gym bag or suitcase next time you travel. Bala Bangles aren’t uncomfortable, inconvenient, or ill-fitting—they’re made from super soft silicone, as well as elastic and velcro so they truly are “one size fits all.” Plus, they’re hands free, which can’t be said for dumbbells, medicine balls, and other traditional strength training equipment.

They add an extra challenge to any type of physical activity!

Whatever activity you’re doing—whether it’s walking, yoga, Pilates, core training, boxing, dancing, or even folding laundry—wearing Bala Bangles will help you get more out of your movement! The added weight and resistance really does make your muscles work harder. That said, the weights come in ½ pound, 1 pound, and 2 pound options, so you won’t run the risk of straining any muscles which can happen with heavier weights. Also, you don’t have to worry about your “form” per se, because you just put them on and move as you normally would. I HIGHLY recommend these for anyone doing the Pure Joy Wellness Walking Challenge, especially if you have health or weight loss related goals. If you’re going to walk, you may as well make the most of it, and the added resistance from these weights will help you knock out more calories, which, as we know, is crucial for weight loss!

They’re multi-purpose/work different muscle groups.

While I do think at-home workout equipment is worth investing in, there’s no denying that purchasing multiple sets of dumbbells, medicine balls, and such can get very expensive very quickly. So personally when I buy equipment, I make sure it’s something that I can use for multiple workouts, to train multiple areas and muscle groups. I like that I can easily move these bangles from my wrists to my ankles, depending on what each exercise I’m doing is targeting. You can use these to work your shoulders, biceps, triceps, calves, quads, glutes, core… the list is endless. Think of it this way: The more muscles you can use a piece of equipment for, the more bang you’re getting for your buck. I use these bangles for home workouts, walks, and sometimes I just wear them around my apartment to up my daily calorie burn! They’re infinitely versatile, to say the least.

Want your own pair of Bala Bangles? You can get them on Amazon here, or through their website.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll join us for our Spring Walking Challenge. 30 days of walking, no prior experience necessary! Come be a part of the Pure Joy Wellness community. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
